If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian.
– Paul McCartney
In Pig Save: Bearing Witness, a 9 minute short, Toronto Pig Save activists bear witness each week of the pigs in transport trucks and in the slaughterhouse at Quality Meat Packers in downtown Toronto. The regular Toronto vigils are part of a growing Pig Save movement including weekly vigils in Burlington organized by Hamilton/Burlington Pig Save and the rise of Melbourne Pig Save and their regular protests to highlight their ban sow stalls campaign. Photographer Jo-Anne McArthur goes on a road trip to visit the recently rescued Julia and her piglets at Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen in upstate New York.
Please join us at our weekly vigils and consider starting a Pig Save-like group at the slaughterhouse in your community… some useful tips on our webpage here

I recently was in Canada, and a dark cloud came over me, my heart fell to my feet…as i passed by a pig factory farm. They were everywhere….made me sick to my stomach. I have seen what goes on behind closed doors. These poor babies never asked for the suffering, pain, and sadness that their life is. We are their only voice…lets spread the word and give them sanctuary, they have suffered enough…

Thank you. Our voices must be heard. This brutality is the norm. Bad has become normal. It MUST stop, if only so we can indeed call ourselves a civilized nation.

It hurts more then any pain I have endured in my life and I haven’t had the best.
I just dream of the day it stops. The only issue is we all wouldn’t hurt a fly and if we were like these psycho heartless butchers, maybe we could fight the fight the way they deserve and stop the pain faster for the animals. Yes I know, we must educate…..but enough is enough….I got only rage left.
Makes it hard to stay here.

Thanks for your passion TC. The best antidote to your empathic pain and suffering is activism… I’m not depressed anymore since I’ve started direct action – protesting on the streets, reaching out to strangers to join us… I find it depressing when I used to hang around only with the converted and do little activism… now, this is totally different. Thanks for caring so much… hang in there… you can make a difference every time you reach out to others and try to make them understand each of our roles to make the world kinder and more just.

It is sickening what we humans do to animals. I get so sad and depressed when I think about it. I pray everyday for the animal Auchwitz to come to an end.
When it comes to animals we humans have a schizophrenic attitude towards them. The cruelty is beyond comprehension and I am embarrased to be a human being.

Natalie, it’s people like you that are humanity’s saving grace… we just need to keep on organizing and talking to family and friends and educate them about animal rights. Please join our fb group “Toronto Pig Save”. There’s lots we can to when we join forces and engage in grassroots community organizing. Thanks for caring so much.

Thank you for your warm welcome TPS! We are so excited to be doing this; hopefully, more will be spurred to action alongside us as we bear witness to the thousands of pigs who are murdered daily.

I’m really loving the theme/design of your site. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A number of my blog audience have complained about my website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any tips to help fix this problem?
